A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING
Good questions.
What kinds of files can I rename?+
Files such as photos, videos, documents and project assets. The app changes filenames; it does not convert file formats. Adding a folder scans the files inside it, rather than renaming the folder itself.
Does it really handle 500,000 files?+
The Windows MVP was tested with a full 500,000-file rename and Undo using small text fixtures. Actual time depends on your drive, file sizes, antivirus and available memory. Use Add folder for very large batches.
Can I type any English sentence?+
The app understands defined command patterns such as “Replace spaces with dashes” and “Add prefix "2026-"”. It is not a general-purpose chatbot. Unsupported instructions are rejected so you can adjust them or use the manual controls.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?+
The desktop app processes files locally on your Windows PC. Files are not uploaded by the renaming workflow. Your purchase details are handled separately by the website and the payment provider.
How do I download after paying?+
Once payment is confirmed, the order page and your account’s Downloads area show the available files. Download the Windows setup ZIP, extract it, then open SmartFileRenamer-Setup.exe and follow the installation steps. A portable ZIP is also included.
Can Undo always restore my names?+
Undo covers the most recent rename operation. It checks for missing files, name conflicts and changed contents. If a file has changed or a name is occupied, recovery can be blocked. Keep backups of important files.
Is the Windows installer signed?+
This MVP build is not digitally signed. Windows may show an unknown-publisher notice. Review the publisher and download source before running software. Code signing and automatic updates are not included in this release.
